● FAQ – Common Questions

Is the ceramic really impact-resistant?

Yes, it's stoneware ceramic fired at high temperature – much stronger than fine porcelain. It handles everyday bumps, but like any ceramic, a drop onto tile can crack it. Treat it like your favorite mug, not like a camping cup.

Is the mug dishwasher and microwave safe?

Yes to both. The ceramic and glaze handle the microwave and dishwasher perfectly. The only exception: the wooden handle. We recommend handwashing to preserve the wood, but the mug body itself can handle anything.

Will the wooden handle come loose over time?

No, it's mechanically secured into the ceramic, not glued. The system is the same as traditional Japanese knives: the handle is held by friction and fits into the mug body. No risk of detachment, even after hundreds of washes.

Does the mug keep drinks hot for a long time?

Better than a regular mug, thanks to the thick ceramic that insulates well. Your coffee or tea stays hot for about 15-20 minutes, but it's not an insulated thermos-style mug. If you want to keep heat longer, add a lid.

Why does capacity vary between models?

Because each mug is handcrafted by a ceramic artisan. Variations in shape, thickness, and finish create volume differences between 300 and 360 ml. That's exactly what makes each piece unique.

Does the wooden handle heat up when I pour really hot liquid?

No. Wood doesn't conduct heat, unlike a ceramic or metal handle. You can hold your mug comfortably even with boiling tea or coffee inside.
